The kindness nobody sees.

“Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.”Matthew 6:3 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Matthew 6:1–4.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus asks His listeners to examine why they give. The problem is not generosity being noticed by chance. It is making a performance of generosity in order to receive praise.

The Father sees what happens in secret. That truth frees us to serve without making ourselves the centre of the story. A person in need is a neighbour to love, not an opportunity to build our reputation.

Consider the ordinary opportunities already near you: a colleague carrying an unreasonable load, a family member who needs practical help, a neighbour who could use a meal. Ask what would actually help, and respect the person’s privacy and choices.

We are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus, not by collecting good deeds. Yet His grace leads us outward. Let the kindness you offer today be a grateful response to the kindness you have received in Christ.

A question to sit with

Would I still want to offer this kindness if nobody ever knew I had done it?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Offer one practical kindness quietly. Let the person keep their dignity, and leave the story off social media.

Let us pray

Father, cleanse my motives. Help me notice the people around me and serve them with the love I have received from You. Amen.
