The provision on the mountain

“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”Genesis 22:14 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Genesis 22–24.

God tests Abraham concerning Isaac, the son connected with the covenant promise. At the decisive moment, God stops Abraham and provides a ram. The narrative ends with God's provision, not with the sacrifice of the child.

This exceptional test must never be turned into permission for religious violence or harmful demands on children. The wider biblical witness condemns human sacrifice. Christians read God's provision here alongside His gift of Christ, our sufficient Saviour.

Trust is surrender to God's revealed character, not obedience to every alarming religious claim. Protect vulnerable people, test spiritual counsel by Scripture and receive salvation as God's provision rather than an achievement you can manufacture.
