A heart renewed, a people restored

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”Ezekiel 36:26 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Ezekiel 36–37.

Ezekiel promises cleansing, a new heart and the gift of God's Spirit. The valley of dry bones then pictures the restoration of a people who say their hope is lost. God supplies the life they cannot produce from within their own exhaustion.

The bones vision first addresses Israel's national despair; it should not be stripped of that setting. Its witness to God's life-giving power also resonates with the wider Christian hope of resurrection. Renewal is God's gracious work, calling for response rather than self-manufactured spiritual intensity.

Bring a hardened response or exhausted hope before God. Ask for inward renewal and take one manageable step of faithfulness. Do not shame yourself or another person for needing support while growth and recovery unfold over time.

A question to sit with

Where do I need God's renewing grace rather than a stronger performance of confidence?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Resume one life-giving practice and seek support for a burden you cannot carry alone.

Let us pray

Life-giving God, renew what has become resistant or weary in me. Give me a willing heart, fitting support and patience to respond to Your grace one faithful step at a time. Amen.
