A message shaped to please

“Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:”Ezekiel 13:10 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Ezekiel 12–14.

Ezekiel confronts prophets who announce peace without truth and people who keep idols in their hearts while seeking God's guidance. Their reassuring words are compared to a weak wall covered with plaster. The appearance of security cannot repair what has no sound foundation.

Comfort detached from truth is not compassion. Religious counsel can become dangerous when it promises what God has not promised or protects what needs correction. At the same time, harshness alone is no proof of honesty; a faithful message must be grounded in Scripture and reality.

Examine one reassuring claim you want to believe. Check its basis before sharing it, especially if health, money or safety is involved. Offer another person honest support instead of certainty you cannot justify.

A question to sit with

What reassuring claim am I reluctant to examine because I want it to be true?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Verify one significant claim before relying on it or passing it to someone else.

Let us pray

God of truth, protect me from comforting falsehoods and from cruelty disguised as honesty. Help me test what I hear and speak with a care that remains faithful to Scripture and the facts. Amen.
