Cleansed before being sent

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”Isaiah 6:8 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Isaiah 5–7.

Isaiah's vision of the holy Lord exposes his own unclean lips before he receives cleansing and a commission. The surrounding chapters describe failed fruitfulness and political fear. The prophet's readiness grows from mercy rather than a claim that he was already adequate.

Awareness of God's holiness need not end in permanent self-rejection. Grace prepares service, though Isaiah's difficult commission offers no guarantee of popularity. Being sent does not make a messenger superior to those addressed; it makes truthful, humble faithfulness necessary.

Bring a weakness that makes you hesitant to serve before God. Receive His mercy and seek suitable preparation rather than pretending the weakness is absent. Offer one useful act of service without requiring certainty that everyone will welcome it.

A question to sit with

What small act of service am I delaying until I feel entirely adequate?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Offer one useful contribution while seeking help or preparation for an area where you need growth.

Let us pray

Holy Lord, meet my inadequacy with Your mercy. Prepare my words and character for faithful service, and help me respond willingly without making approval or personal importance the measure of my calling. Amen.
